I love this philosophy of relating to others by Ma I love this philosophy of relating to others by Martin Buber. You can either treat them as someone to make things good for you or as someone who blesses your life by being in it. Are they an object or a person who matters?  If you’re like me, you’re cringing inside a little because you know you sometimes fall too far on the I-It side of things. And sometimes we have to because there are logistics to take care of.  But the more you can work on treating the people you love as legitimate others who you love and want to connect with, the stronger and more fulfilling your relationships will be.
Emotional fusion means relying on *other* people t Emotional fusion means relying on *other* people to make you feel good about yourself. We ALL do it but it can be hard to see in yourself. Maybe seeing it in these familiar characters will help clarify what it looks like in YOUR life? These are funny examples but all too real! If you pay attention, you’ll probably find that your motivation is external more often than you realize. But we can fix that and it will make a major difference in how you feel! Instead of worrying about what other people think, what about just remaining present in your body and in the experience and feeling what you feel? Try not to think about how others are seeing you and instead, just show up in the way that feels right to you!
