Episode 6: Noticing What’s Good without Ignoring the Hard
Episode 6: Noticing the Good without Ignoring What’s Hard
Life is busy, messy, and full — and sometimes it feels like the hard stuff takes up all the space. But every now and then, there’s a quiet moment that catches you off guard — a small laugh, a warm kitchen, a simple night that just feels good. Those little glimmers can change everything, if we actually notice them.
In this episode, I’m joined by Rachel Nielson from the 3 in 30 Podcast to talk about how to find those “flecks of gold” in your everyday life — without pretending everything’s fine.
We’re digging into how to see the good and be real about what’s hard, and why that balance can help you feel more grounded, grateful, and connected to the people you love.
A Sneak Peek of What You’ll Find in This Episode:
Why Noticing the Good Matters (& Why It’s Not About Pretending):
Women often feel pressure to be grateful, stay positive, and “see the good,” especially when we know our life is objectively good. We want to be accommodating and we don’t want to drag others down. But sometimes we’re tired, overwhelmed, or weighed down.
Feeling caught between overwhelm and wanting to be positive and grateful can feel tricky. But between these two competing experiences is an opportunity to acknowledge the hard (because that makes you relatable) while also finding the good.
Both research and lived experience back the idea that noticing small, real moments of good without silencing the hard can bring peace and delight in small, doable ways and can improve your relationships.
The Little Practice That Changes Everything:
You don’t need a big life overhaul to feel more grounded — just a simple daily habit of spotting one “fleck of gold.”
A laugh from your kid. A quiet minute in the kitchen. Crawling into soft sheets at the end of a long day.
Those tiny moments don’t erase the challenges, but they help you remember why your life matters and who you are inside it. You’ll hear how this practice helps you reconnect with yourself, break out of survival mode, and feel more present with your people — no perfection required, no forced positivity, no pretending.
Just small, honest moments of good, right in the middle of real life.
